ISLAND REDOUBT

, , RUGBY, August 31. The tiny island of Cezembre, a lieavily-rfortifled bastion blocking the entrance to St. Malp harbour, on the coast of Brittany, was bombed this evening by two waves-of Marauders which used the pathfinder technique to make the, attack through heavy clouds. The island, which is the last remaining enemy stronghold preventing Allied use of the harbour, is fortified with 150 mm gun batteris and is manned by a strong German garrison. Over the island, which has been isolated since the fall pf the city of St. Majo, neither fighters nor anti-aircraft fire opposed the bombers.—B.O.W.
