INSTITUTE OF SECRETARIES
The Wellington chapter of the New Zealand Institute of Secretaries held its annual meeting this week and adopted the report for 1942-43, which referred to the reduction in activities due to the war. It was stated that a large number of members were in the Armed Forces, both overseas and in New Zealand, and a duty and a trust devolved on those who remained to maintain the New Zealand Institute as a live and active organisation. Membership of the chapter had been well maintained, several new members haying been admitted by examina: tion and transferred from other chapters. Great regret was expressed at the loss sustained by the chapter and the institute through the deaths of Messrs. A. B. Goble and C. W. Ritchie, both loyal and valued members. The chapter had been very ably represented on the CQuncil by Mr. W. O. Gibb, to whom the thanks of all members was accorded. Members of the Wellington chapter for the ensuing year were as follows:—Mr. R. J. Mothers (chairman), Major P. de Bathe Brandon, 0.8. E. (vice-chair-man), Messrs. E. H. Bell, R. H. O. Caldwell, M. A. Carson, T. G. Coveney, W. O. Gibb, R. F. Goodworth, S. J. Harrison, R. H. Parker, and J. R. Perston.
