PRISONERS LIBERATED

Rec. 1.15 p.m. CHUNGKING, Sept. 3. Chinese troops in the south-west of Shansi Province liberated 7000 Chinese who had -been rounded up for forced labour and killed many Japanese,'says a Chinese communique.

Brisk fighting has broken out in western Yunnan Province where the Chinese intercepted a Japanese advance towards Shenkukwan. Chinese troops also repulsed an advance towards Tangchi, north of Hangchow.
