SOVIET RETAKES TOWNS

LONDON, September 3. ■ One Soviet spearhead has captured a place 30 miles north-east of Konotop, and another, pushing down from Bryansk, has captured a place 15 miles to the north of Konotop. Soviet troops have improved their positions west and south-west of Kharkov, and have advanced. closer to Stalino. During the day they liberated more places in the Donets Basin, including a town 15 miles' west of Lisichansk.
