AXIS REFLECTIONS
THE WAR ANNIVERSARY
Kec. 2 p.m. LONDON, September 2. A Japanese spokesman, in a statement on the completion of the fourth year of the war, was quoted by Berlin radio, as saying: "The longer the war lasts the more favourable will the situation become to our side. Our situation is unassailable strategically and economically. Time is our great ally, because it enables us to transform into fighting strength our large resources and vast reserves of manpower." The German news agency says that the deputy Press chief, Herr Sundermann, in a statement on the anniversary of the outbreak of war, said: "A phase of the war is now in sight when further sacrifices will have to be made. Germany is confident of the security of her position."
