DRAMA FESTIVAL,

Four plays were submitted by the British Drama League last night, the titles and companies being "The Old Ladies," by the Wellington East Old Girls; "Red Velvet Coat," by the Unity Theatre; "The Rest Cure," by the Pandora Players; and "The Murder by Request," by the Peter Pans. The plays gave much pleasure to the large audience at the Tin Hat Club Hall. Mrs. Elsie Lloyd, adjudicator, was both kind and candid in her comments on the performances, and earned the thanks of all audiences when she emphasised the virtues of audibility and deliberation in speakers on the stage. Tonight the plays will be "Mrs. Methuselah" (Philip Johnson), by tlie Waterloo Fabians; "According to Plan" (Geoffrey Parsons), by the Unity Theatre; and "Dead Love" (Audrey B. King, of Wellington), by the Karori Plunket Readers. Tomorrow afternoon the four plays winding up the season will be "A Mad Tea Party" (from "Alice In Wonderland") and "Daisy's Ball" (from Louisa Alcott's "Little Man"), by the Hataital-Kil-birnie Juniors, Madame Koslna Bligh, producer; "The Stolen Prince" (Dan Totheroh), by the Johnsonville Juniors, Mrs. Mavis Ring, producer; and "The Stupid Lover" and "Portrait of a Gentleman in Slippers" (A. A. Milne), by the Eastbourne Juniors, producer, Jean Mather. Presentation of the Sir Michael Myers Cup and "Dairy Exporter" certificates will be made tonight.
