PUBLIC NOTICEt: WILL APPLETON, NATIONAL CANDIDATE FOR WELLINGTON CENTRAL, SAYS: ' TT is amusing to read -of the fantastic Claims A made by Labour in regard to our. War Effort. Pour Colonels who warned the Labour , Government of the need for inqreaged military ' strength before the War were placed on the retired list as punishment for their presumptiousness. They put their Country first and paid , the penalty at the hands of a Government largely composed of former Pacifists, C.O.s, and Anti-militarists. Had the advice of the four Colonels been accepted New Zealand would have been infinitely better prepared for war, and the Homo Guard would, not'have had to spend a year drilling with broomsticks. On tho outbreak of war, three of the four Colonels —the fourth had since died—again offered their services, and two of them served in the Middle East. The National Party pledges Itself to prosecute the War to the fullest extent. There will be a complete Investigation-of all war expenditure , by an impartial Commission of Inquiry, to - stop the wasteful. expenditure which has been rampant. Publicity and censorship is to be overhauled and political censorship is to cease. We also pledge the cancellation of War Regulations as soon after the War as possible. They will not be used as Labour suggests In tho continued regimentation of the people. Vote NATIONAL this time and for WILL APPLETON. A Man who has Four Sons In the.
