"NO TOBACCO, NO WORK"

Sir,—l would like to congratulate the Liverpool State miners on their unselfish action in striking because of a shortage of tobacco. What a fine patriotic gesture. How impressed their friends the Russians will be when they read of this in their newspapers. I am quite sure the defenders of Stalingrad would have ceased to fight had they suffered the slightest shortage of any luxury. Our soldiers, sailors, and airmen overseas will go into the fight with renewed vigour when they. hear of this fine effort on the home front.—l am, etc., MITERYIA.
