ALLIED AIR ASSAULT

RAILWAY YARDS BOMBED LONDON, August 31. • In the Allied air assault on railways of southern Italy, Marauders bombed marshalling yards north of Naples at Aversa. About 70 German . fighters came up, and at least 17 of them will not fight again. Other bombers attacked Civitavecchia, north-west oi Rome.

Wellingtons kept up the night attack. The daylight task for Fortresses was an important airfield 2b miles inland from Civitavecchio, and other aircraft bombed railways m the toe of Italy.
