CARE OF THE BLIND

The National Patriotic War Fund Board has authorised the United Commercial Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association to act as the board's expending agents for the distribution of funds to persons blinded in the present war, and a preliminary grant has already been handed over. In making this announcement yesterday the honorary secretary of the fund (Mr. R. E. Selby), who is also honorary secretary for a similar fund for soldiers and sailors blinded in the Great War, said that so far only one blinded man had returned to New Zealand from the present war. The operation of the first fund has resulted in £14,000 being made available to blinded men and their dependants.
