WASHINGTON, May 23

The Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. H. Morgenthau, announced that the first seventeen days' sale of the new defence saving bonds netted 25,646,000 dollars.

A strike by approximately 6000 American Federation of Labour unionists in Ravenna. Ohio, today tied up construction work on 30,000,000 dollars' worth of orders at the Government's ordnance shell-loading plant.
