CORRESPONDENCE

SPIRITUAL BASES

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Your correspondents, H. B. Jacobs and "Citizen," will perhaps be interested to know that a group of Wellington business men have for some months been examining the form and purpose of an organisation designed to mobilise the positive forces of Christianity.

Discussions have taken place with church leaders in Wellington and elsewhere, and it is expected that public action will shortly result. A survey carried out in five provinces showed that over 90 per cent, of the people interviewed were anxious that some action should be taken. Many people believe that a Battle of Truth must be fought and won, that is no less important than the battle and victory of arms. It, is essential, however, that the purposes of any such organisation should receive thorough preparatory examination. Action, it is believed, should spring from within God's instrument of unity —the Church —(now divided) so that unity in action should at least result. Great care, too. must be exercised to see that a new religious sect does not result to further divide, nor can party politics be allowed to creep in.

Broadlyspeaking, the matter is being approached in four phases, viz.:—

1. Unity of action within God's instrument of unity;

2. Definition of the eternal laws of God as they relate to the social order;

3. Formulation of war and peace purposes that will lead to a social order based on the eternal laws;

4. Methods of mobilising the positive forces of Christianity.

Information may be obtained from the organiser, Box 1014, Wellington.—l am, etc.,

E.R.A,
