AERODROME CONSTRUCTION

fO.C.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The first of its kind to be established by the Government, a Royal New Zealand Air- Force aerodrome construction squadron is at present under formation for service overseas. The unit will consist of three flights and a squadron headquarters, and will comprise 15 commissioned officers and 132 other ranks, the commanding officer having the rank of squadron leader.
It is stated that the first, or A flight, |Svill be trained as a survey section, B foUght as a repair and maintenance secption, and C flight as a construction Section." Applications are being handled by the nearest district engineer of the ?üblic Works Department, who will jtorward recommendations to the Air (Department. v .The age group from which men are jfceing selected is 20 to 40 years, but phen over 30 will receive prior consideration. Suitable applicants between ftO and 50 will not be excluded if they We of good physique and medicallj' fit lor overseas service. Consideration -will also be given applicants who, befeause of some slight physical defect, are ineligible for front-line service, but who are nevertheless in good general health and are capable of standing up to rigorous living and climatic conditions. Men wanted include civil and mechanical engineers and draughtsmen, mechanics, linesmen, instrument men, transport drivers, clerks, gas and electric welders, blacksmiths, tinsmithplumbers, fitters, tractor and ditcher drivers, tilemakers, and sawyers. Applications are being considered from eligible men .in the armed forces if they have the consent of their commanding officer.
