FIERCE BATTLE
FIGHT FOR HABBANIA
BRITISH GAINS AT FALLUJA
(Rec. 1.20 p.m.) LONDON. May 22. An Iraki communique says that a fierce battle is still in progress at Ilabbania.
The British forces captured 27 Iraki officers and about 270 men of other ranks, together with a considerable amount of equipment, when they took Falluja. They also vcaptured a pipeline post about 25 miles north-east of Rutba, taking prisoner the whole garrison.
The Beirut correspondent of the British United Press reports that M. Dentz. the French Governor of Syria, said at a Press conference: "France has no aggressive intentions against Britain, but she will be compelled to oppose force with force. Germany has a provisional right to use the Syrian aerodromes under article 12 of the Franco-German armistice. I assure the Syrian people that no German interference or occupation will take place in Syria."—U.P.A.
