AUSTRALIANS IN CRETE
MELBOURNE, May 22,
The Minister of the Army (Mr. Spender) stated: "A substantial number of Australian troops were landed in Crete after the evacuation from Greece, and they are under the command of Major-General Freyberg. The recent dispatches did not fully reveal the extent to which these troops have been relieved by British units."
Mr. Spender said he had not received any report to indicate that Australians had arrived in Cyprus, as reported in London.—U.P.A.
