IMPRESSED VEHICLES

Heavy motor-vehicle emergency regulations were gazetted last night with the object of safeguarding the interests of owners whose vehicles of this class are required for the armed forces, E.P.S., or Home Guard. The regulations provide that owners of such vehicles will not be penalised in respect to heavy traffic fees, provision being made for rebates from the taking-over dates. The interests of farmers who are entitled to concession fees where vehicles are used on their farms are also protected in cases where the vehicles are used with the E.P.S. or Home Guard. The regulations are retrospective to cover recent impressments.
