NO WINTER SHOW
MANAWATU SOCIETY
MILITARY USING GROUNDS
(P:A.) PALMERSTON N., May 22
No Winter Show will be held by the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association next month, as the military authorities are still using the Showgrounds. It is possible that they will be there for a considerable time, perhaps for the duration of the war. If so, the association may not be able to hold its Spring Show in November.
The president, Mr. B. E. Keiller, discussed the use of the Showgrounds by the Army with a high officer, and, found it fairly definite that the military would be using the grounds for a considerable period. The finance committee of the association sent a letter to Army Headquarters setting out certain conditions for the use of the grounds, and the officer expressed the opinion that they were very fair, though a reply was being awaited from, headquarters. Asked if the holding of the Spring Show on any other ground had been considered, Mr. Keiller said it was too soon yet for the matter to be discussed.
