AFTER THE WAR
.POLITICAL ACTION
ONE CENTRAL BODY
FARMERS' INTENTION
(P.A.) AUCKLAND. This Day. Adopting- unanimously a report by a special committee, the Auckland council of the New Zealand Farmers' Union decided* upon a definite course of political action after Ihe war. The report expressed the belief that participation was necessary and inevitable in the post-war period of reconstruction. It x-ecommended an intensification of present endeavours to consolidate under one central body all the farmers' organisations concerned with the processing and marketing of primary produce, and immediate action to organise farmers' opinions in readiness for direct political action in the post-war period. The president, Captain Rushworth, said he thought it would be worse than useless to attempt anything in the Auckland Province unless a Dominion fi ont were organised. No action would be taken in Auckland unless the proposals were approved by the Dominion conference of the Farmers' Union.
