TICKET VOTING

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—-I read with much interest Mr. Collins's remarks about "ticket" voting in this election. I would like to give my experience, 'which is probably shared by many others. I am not a Labourite, though anxious to give them a fair deal, and in the good old days, before they became so militant, 1 voted, irrespective of party, for the best candidates in the council, as I thought everyone should be fairly represented. But from the year Labour introduced the ticket system. I have never voted for any Labour man or woman, as I knew their party rigidly voted their own ticket.

At this present election I would have certainly left out two or three names in the Citizens choice, but I kept to the rule first taught me by Labour, "Stick to your own, good, bad, or indifferent." The incident of the threat to a respected member of the community was merely the last straw. —I am, etc.,
