The exciting story of a ruthless gambler's, attempt to outwit the authorities is the theme of the new Warner Bros.' film, "Gambling on the High Seas," which commences tomorrow at the De Luxe Theatre. The picture, starring Wayne Morris and Jane Wyman. tells the story of a band of ruthless gangsters who operates a gambling ship. For years their leader, played by Gilbert Roland, has been able to outsmart the police in their attempts to bring a conviction against hm. His reign as gambling tsar contnues until a reporter, played, by Wayne Morris,, obtains the assistance of Roland's secretary, played by Jane Wyman, in taking photos, of the crooked machines. Roland's thugs .kidnap her just before she is about1 to testify against them at their trial. Morrisand the authorities rescue her in one of the most exciting scenes to flash across the screen. The evidence they gather is so devastating that Roland is given* a life term. Maintaining the high standard of their popular film series, Richard Arlen and Andy Deyine's newest co-starring picture, Universal's "The Devil's Pipeline," will be the second feature. Abounding in thrills, action, and suspense, lightened by comic and romantic interludes, the production contains top-flight entertainment. Dick and Andy are seen as American engineers delegated to investigate mysterious events at their company's oil fields on a tropical island. Discovery of corrupt practices involving the company's manager and the island police chief leads to a spectacular skirmish between white men and natives.
