FIRST PROSECUTION
A BANNED BODY
JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES
John Joseph Murray, retired, aged 78, was charged before Mr. .J. L. Stout, S.M. ? in the Magistrate's Court today, with participating in the activities of a subversive organisation, namely, Jehovah's Witnesses. This was the first prosecution brought since the recent banning of the organisation.
Detective-Sergeant W. McLennan applied for a remand until Monday, and did not object to bail.
Murray was remanded on bail
