ARREST OF PANDIT NEHRU
LONDON, November 1
A report from Bombay says that the Stock Exchange was unofficially closed today after the arrest of Pandit Nehru yesterday. It is understood that he was arrested under a section of Rule 34 of the Defence of India Act, which forbids the making of speeches calculated to influence the attitude of the public in a way which may be prejudicial to the defence of British India or to the official prosecu-
tion of the war.
