COLLEGE SPORTS
Two records, the half-mile handicap under 16 and the 440 yds open championship, were broken at the Wellington College annual athletic sports, held yesterday in ideal conditions. I. G. G. Kissel covered the quarter-mile in a level 53 seconds, to beat the previous best of 03 3-ssec, made by F. H. Stephenson in 1930, and in the half-mile under 16 handicap, B. J. Duffy, off scratch, reduced the record for that event from 2min 17 3-ssec to 2min 13 4-ssec. D. P. Mason won the senior championship and Kissel the Luke Cup, Oscar Kemher Cup, and Gawen Holdeu Cup for the 440 yds, 220 yds, and 100 yds championships respectively.
At the conclusion of the programme Mr. W. A. Armour, headmaster, spoke briefly and Mrs. Armour presented sports trophies won during the year.
