EXCEPTION TAKEN
WATERSIDERS' UNION
"On behalf of my fellow-workers 1 wish to take strong exception to Mr. Fletcher's vague and misleading statement," said the vice-president and the acting secretary of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union (Mr. F. O'Donnell), in a statement to "The Post" today. "Will Mr. Fletcher state the name of the ship and the date on which we refused to unload passengers' luggage? We cannot do it until we are asked or engaged for a job. As far as the war effort is concerned, it is problematical whether praying, or working as the watersiders are doing, will be the greater contribution towards winning the war, in which result we are all as much interested as our reverend visitor."
