FIRE AT TUATAPERE

INVERCARGILL, This Day,

Lawson's Hall, Tuatapere, used three times a week for pictures, and also for dances, was completely destroyed by fire early this morning, only the brick walls being left standing. Two shops in front were gutted. One was occupied by Miss Hannan as a fruit and confectionery business: the other was empty. An adjoining shop occupied by Mrs. Duncan was saved by a bucket brigade. The hall was insured in the Commercial Union for £2800, and in the State Office for £1200. The fittings were insured in the State Office for" £210. Mrs. Hannan's stock was insured in the State Office for £150 and Mrs. Duncan's stock in the same office for £300.
