FINANCIAL SUCCESS.
SILVER LINING FAIR
The Wellington. City Mission and the I St. Mary's Children's Homes are each to benefit to'the extent of £460 12s Bd, as a result of, the Silver Lining Fair, which was held in the Town Hall last month. This very satisfactory financial outcome to the fair was announced by the City Missioner, the Rev. Harry Squires, at a meeting held at the mission building last night.
Mr. Squires said that the results had justified the decision to hold a three-day fair, and he congratulated the two organisations on the way in which they had co-operated in carrying out the function. He expressed appreciation of the work done by numerous groups who had superintended the arrangements for stalls, and made particular mention of the services given by Mr. Allan S. Blackie, Mr. R. M. Hill, and Mr. W. Henderson.
"The citizens of Wellington actuaUy paid all the expenses of the fair before it started," said Mr. Squires, referring to the excellent sale of tickets prior to the opening. "That meant that every single half-penny taken at the fair went directly to the cause for which it was given."
