BUBONIC PLAGUE
OUTBREAK AT HSINKING

TOKIO, October 14
The Hsinking correspondent of the Domei news agency reports that 18 persons are dead as the result of an outbreak of bubonic plague which occurred on September 24. The authorities, fearing a major epidemic, have jprohibited gatherings, closed theatres, ordered a thorough cleaning of the city, banned people not wearing masks from the streets, and placed five districts in quarantine.
