RHODODENDRON DELL
KELBURN BEAUTY SPOT
The Kelburn Rhododendron Dell, commenced only three years ago, is now beginning to yield some return for all the hard work put into it by the Wellington Beautifying Society, states a report presented at the monthly meeting of the society last night. There' is at present a fine showing of bloom, especially on the lower slopes. The convener of the Kelburn branch of the society, Mrs. Charles Haines, gratefully acknowledges the following donations towards upkeep:— Mrs. E. Kidson, 10s 6d; Miss A. W. Eglin, £1; Misses C. and W. Wallace, 10s; Mr. J. Dalziel, 10s; "Prize Money," £1 Is; also some memorial trees from
Mrs. A. Kidd, Otago. In a few years' time, this should be one of Wellington's beauty spots. It is intended to "naturalise" blue wood hyacinths on one of the slopes, and contributions of these bulbs would be welcomed by the convener.
The president (Mr. S. Holm) said the dell was one of the beauty spots of Wellington, and on his motion it was decided to thank Mrs. Haines for her work in obtaining funds.
