PALMERSTON MARKETS.
The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, reports a full yarding of pigs, a total clearance being made at satisfactory rates. Top price for weaners was 30s for a choice line, while porkers sold as high as £3 10s each. The usual keen demand for poultry prevailed., heavy hens realising to 5s each, while good W.L. hens sold to 4s each. Exceptionally high prices were received for vegetables, cauliflowers realising to 21s per bag, with a corresponding good demand for green peas, new potatoes, and lettuce. Prices: —Best weaners, 25s to 30s each; medium, 20s to 245; small, 12s 6d to 18s; slips, 30s to 355; heavy stores, 40s to 455; medium, 32s to 37s 6d; heavy porkers, £3 to £3 10s each; medium, £2 10s to £2 18s; sows and litters, to &B; heavy hens, 4s 3d to 5s each; best W.L. hens, 3s 0d to 4s each; light hens, 2s 6d to 3s each; prime cockerels; 4s to 4s 9d each; spring chickens, 9d to 2s 6d each; ducks, from 2s 6d to 4s each; roosters, from 2s 6d to 3s 9d each; hens and chicks, to 18s; young ducklings, to Is 6d each; laying hens, to 4s (3d. each; new potatoes, Pukekohe 2d to 4d lb, Hawke's Bay 2d to 5d lb; green peas, to B£d lb; asparagus, 6d to Is. bunch; cauliflowers, 19s to 23s bag; cabbages, prime, 4s to 5s 6d case, others 2s to 3s 6A case; lettuce, prime 10s to 12s case, others 4s to 8s case; spinach, 5s to 8s 6d case; leeks, 2s to 4s case; swedes 5s 6d to 6s 6d bag; radishes, Is 6d to 2s 3d dozen; carrots, 3s to 4s 0d bag; parsnips, 2s 6d to 4s bag; turnips, Is to Is 6d dozen; rhubarb, 5s to 8s dozen; celery, 3s 6d to 5s case.
