ENGRAVINGS PRESENTED

Two steel engravings of former English statesmen, one of Mr. Gladstone and the other of Mr. John Bright, were presented to Parliament today by Mr. E. Fletcher, late of Wellington and now of Sydney, and Mr. J. W. Fletcher, of Wellington. The portrait of Mr. Gladstone is of particular interest, apart from the merit of the engraving, because he is shown. as a young man in the prime of life, either in the late thirties or early forties. Mr. J. W. Fletcher, sen., who came to New Zealand in 1886 and died in 1911, was associated with Mr. Gladstone in the Midlothian campaign.
