Ajax received a severe kick below the near hock at the start of the Melbourne Stakes. Over the weekend the leg became sore and swollen. The effect regarding his spi'ing programme will not be known till a few days. Nightbeam is an unlikel/ visitor to Melbourne.'
Penalties for the Toorak Handicap are:—High Caste, 51b. now 9.10; True Flight, 41b, now 8.8.
Pandect returned to Melbourne, looking well after his Derby win. Reading will arrive at Melbourne on Saturday, and will run in the Caulfield Cup. Gladynev has been awarded 7.11 in the Herbert Power Handicap on Saturday,
