LOCAL APPEALS

NEARLY 200 SO FAR

Since the result of the first National Service ballot (for Territorial service in New Zealand) was published last week, nearly 200 appeals against being called up for service have been received by the Man-power Committee for the Wellington and Hutt Valley area. Except in special cases appeals will not be heard until after the men concerned have been medically examined.

The personnel of the Wellington Man-power Committee, which has offices in Featherston Street, is as follows:—Messrs. Martin Luckie (chairman), E. P. Hay (deputy-chairman), Roy Cable, E. A. Canhan, and W. H. Stevens (deputy member). The deputy member takes his seat on the committee when one of the other members is absent.
