"HISTORIC MOMENT"

AXIS LEADERS' TALKS

HOT AIR FROM ROME

(Received October 5, 1.50 p.m.)

LONDON, October 4. The Rome radio stated: —

"Hitler and Mussolini discussed a military and political programme for the war, which has reached a decisive stage. The world will soon see the outcome, but definitely there is no plotting against any nation which is not involved. The meeting took place at a historic moment, and is of vast importance. The leaders have not fixed the date of victory; the two nations will achieve this whenever and wherever the decision comes."
