WEATHEK CALLS HALT
LONDON, October 4. Enemy objectives in the invaded countries are being crippled byBritish bombers during daylight, arid today the Royal Air Force carried out further attacks on the enemyoccupied coast of Holland. At pre. sent few details are available. Flying weather was bad, but the bombers were able to take advantage of the, cover provided by low clouds to make a series of raids, and the attacks ranged from Rotterdam t<> Dunkirk.
Near Dunkirk, British planes spot* ted a convoy of 12 enemy merchant ships escorted by warships. . High ex-» plosive bombs were dropped, but lowcloud quickly enveloped the aircraft and the results of the attacks could not be seen. Other British raiders dived out of the cloud and attacked an enemysupply ship, lying north of Dunkirk harbour. The planes were heavily engaged by coastal batteries, and the blast of one salvo which exploded right underneath blew the ..bomber "up so violently that it almost looped, the loop. Later two of the^main shipping ; basins at the Rotterdam docks were identified and bombed, and another raider attacked a concentration of 50 barges. Many of the barges were hit, and several bombs were seen to strike the quayside. One bomber flew across Holland and penetrated into Western Germany and attacked a large iron works. After nightfall the weather became so bad that bombing operations were cancelled. (Received October 5, 1 p.m.) OSLO, October 4..
