AUSTRALIAN EFFICIENCY
I More than 500 members of the W.A.N.S. are registered for specialised training as canteen cookery supervisors, and large numbers are now ready to undertake their examinations, states the "Sydney Morning Herald." These include (1) a home assignment consisting of a weekly menu for 350 adults or 350 children with detailed order lists; (2)j a two hours' theoretical examination on food requirements, i menu planning, food storage, kitchen l equipment,' the staff organisation; (3) a practical cookery examination lasting^ three hours, during which dishes must be completed, marks being given for preparation, working methods, and results. A6O per cent, pass in each section will be necessary before a certificate is issued by the home service section of the Australian Gas Company. A meeting was held recently of the "Wellington South Nursing Division of St. John Ambulance Brigade at the brigade rooms, Vivian Street. Members practised squad work in first aid improvising, under the supervision of Mrs. Betts and Miss Paul, Lady Superintendent,
