"AMPHITRYON 38."

.«, The Wellington Repertory Theatre will introduce the work of another famous Continental dramatist to local audiences when it stages the brilliant comedy "Amphitryon 38" at the Concert Chamber on Tuesday next, October 8. Jean Giraudoux is already famous in London, Paris, and New York as a writer of sparkling comedies, and in "Amphitryon 38" he is shown at his best. The translation by S. N. Behrman is described by the critic of the London "Times" as "firstrate." This is the thirty-eighth dramatic version of this famous legend, and as a London critic said, it would be dfncult to surpass it in polish and wit. It created a sensation a couple of years ago in London and New York with Alfred Lunt and Lynne Fontaine in the leading roles of Jupiter and Alkmena, parts which will be played by W. S. Wauchop. and Mrs. Craig Mackenzie in the local production. P. C. Benham will appear as Amphitryon, Charles Johnston as Mercury, and Mrs. W. A. Martin as Leda. Others in the cast are Molly Cook, Mary Sladden, W. F. C. Balham, N. V. Wotton, and Gordon Hooper. The producer is W. S. Wauchop. The sea- I son, which will end on Saturday, Oc-! tober 12, will include a matinee in aid. of patriotic funds on the Saturday' afternoon. The box plans are now open.
