SYDNEY PARADE

A.I.F. AND AIR FORCE

(Received October 3, 1 p.m.)

SYDNEY, This Day

About 6500 troops of the A.I.F. and 100 men of the Air- Force will march through the city tomorrow, when an "Australia Day" appeal for the Lord Mayor's Fund will be held. An official request to citizens not to give beer or other gifts to the men has been issued by the Eastern Command headquarters. Officers declined to say whether people who gave beer to troops would be prosecuted and fined as had happened on a similar occasion in New Zealand. It was learned, however, that no instructions for such action had been given in the Eastern Command.
