SEATTLE SHAKEN

CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE

TREMORS FOR 25 MINUTES

SEATTLE, November 13.

Damage estimated at 1,000,000 dollars was done in Seattle by the most severe earthquake ever recorded by the Washington University's seismograph. The tremors continued for 25 minutes.

The earthquake was felt from Portland to Vancouver and Spokane.

No trace of the earthquake was recorded at the Dominion Observatory, Kelburn. Seismologists there are not surprised, as earthquakes in the area affected" have a comparatively shallow origin, and it would take a very big one indeed to. send oscillations as far as New Zealand.
