First-class Badoe,
The following Scouts having passed all the required tests, have-been awarded the Firstclass. Badge;— Cyril Browne.. Wadestown Si Roy McLennan and Bryan- Tyache, Seatoun; Robert Halcrow, Brooklyn; Bryan- Tolly and Ken VVylde;- Ist Kelburn: -A'laa,-JBarU.-Stj Mark's. Tests were held last. Saturday afternoon, with 21 Scouts-present as - follows:—Hills- District, 2; • North District, 15;; "- South District, 4. In all' 53 Jests were taken and there were ■33 passes,-11 partial passes, and 9 failures. The standard of work generally ( was quite good. The examiner in Pioneering points out,' however, that in. most cases : the Scouts, .while , completing the tests, are much too slow on j the job. In Pioneering speed ls Important as well as accuracy, and Scouts must get suffl- ] cieiitly familiar with the requirements to be able to. carry them out quickly as well as correctly. -The- next tests will be held on. Saturday, December 9 and .entries must be at Metropolitan Headquarters by 4.30 p.m. on- Friday, '•December 1. v ' Summer Camps. It is hoped 'that arrangements will be made by. every, troop in. the area to ensure that all their Scotitshavie the. opportunity to :go to a long camp after Christmas. Scoutmasters are,-, however,.warned, .to get in touch, with the honorary Metropolitan secretary before finalising their arrangements in order to make sure that the site ..they propose to use has hot already been booked by another troop. Where two troops have the same site in mind, it is, of course, the one first advising Metror P'olitan'j. Headquarters .-which has the priority. A Good Turn. ' A letter has been received by Headquarters •from- a gentleman in Wellington, of which the following Is an extract. "About a fortnight agomygatage-caught' fire.
