Sylvia's obvious interest in Toni,-but the,school teacher is riot disloyal, ;and is/greatly, dejected when LenTs father rudely rejects him as a suitor.for his daughter's hand. When the Lahntaler's barn is accidentally destroyed by fire- the' blame falls on Torii, who is arrested. Sylvia, who could prove his innocence, has left the village, but she returns, and Toni and Leni are reunited.
