CONFERENCE OPENS
UNION OF TOWNSWOMEN
WAR WORK COMMENDED
Yesterday morning, before a large arid representative gathering of women, the Mayoress,; Mrs. T. C. A- Hislop, Officially opened the second annual conference of the New Zealand Union of Townswomen's Guilds (Inc.). About 100 delegates from all parts of New Zealand attended the conference. Mrs. James Pqw, Dominion president, was in the chair, ,and those 'seated' at the official tabie were Mrs. Stewart, M.P.,

A telegram of good wishes was received 7from the Prime Ministier, the Rt. Hon.7IVL J. Savage.
Mrs. Hislop referred to the number of new guilds that had been; formed and the enthusiasm Vith which members had taken up'A;R.P. training and nursing and cooking for riien in camp. Mrs:'-Hislop said she was sure she would be; able: to. depend on the : help of all thel members in proyiding comforts' and "knitted 7wear for the soldiers.
