LONDON, November 13

The French on the Saar front are restoring barbed wife obstructions and have reconstructed machine-gun emplacements in advance positions! which they re-occupied when the Germans withdrew after three days of intensive local activity. A communique says that the night was quiet along the front. A French night communique states' that a certain number of enemy aircraft flew over north-eastern France j last night. Low cloud reduced fighting activities to a minimum. * The German High Command an- j nounced: "We repulsed fresh attempts to gain the heights south-west of Pirmasens and took an officer and 24 men as prisoners." • The'official'German news agency reported that 28 Germans were taken prisoner and 50 Frenchmen during engagements on the Western Front. It is claimed that 17 German aeroplanes were lost on the Western Front up to November 10, compared with 16 British and 64 French planes, including three balloons. In Paris an air-raid warning was sounded at 4.20 a.m. and the all-clear signal was given at 5.20 a.m. Three persons, including a little boy, were injured when scout planes were sighted near Paris this afternoon.
