; There, is a distinct possibility that new consumers will not be able to get the advantages of electricity owing to the Customs Department refusing per,mits for the importation of certain materials, according to a report presented to the Manawatu-broua Power Board yesterday by the chief enigineer, Mr. W. A. Waters. I He stated that last month he ordered £1600 worth of copper Ccfbles required ;fdr urgent work,'but so far the agent' had been unable to secure the necessary permit to import. He had also b6en advised that the Customs Department had refused to permit the importation of insulators required for an 11.000-volt line at Ohakea where the new aerodrome is. Mr..'Waters added I that no advice had been received regarding a shipment of transformers or of relays to control water heaters. 1 It was decided to pass on to the Power' Boards' Association information as lo how the import restrictions are |affecting the-board, •..-.'
