An anticyclone of moderate intensity has remained practically stationary to the west of New Zealand, while a series of weak disturbances has been passing, tho southern portion of the South Island. A considerable depression ia:still ceutiod east of tho North Island. Winds ,have been mainly southerly in direction and light to moderate in force, except in the far north and in eastern districts from Napier to East Cape, where they have been strong. It has been showery in the far north and south and fairly heavy rain has fallen in eastern districts from Napier to East Cape. Elsewhere the weather has been fair to fine. Temperatures have been moderate- with cool nights and some frosts. ■ :
