OPENING BUYING SCHEDULE
Meat- exporters have arranged their first-export schedule * for lambs, and mutton, following the meat' purchase by the British Government. Prices are regarded as satisfactory. The Auckland lamb ; season'has opened favour-, ably, a steady number coming forward, but this is expected to increase rapidly with a continuance of favourable conditions. ■■'. ■':'.■■:'.' ~'-' -V :■. ..
The opening schedules on hooks at Auckland; freezing works are:— Lamb:—Down: Up to 361b, B|d per lb; 371b to 421b, 8 l-8d; 431b to 501b, 7f d; over 501b (legs) ;= 7|d. .Prime crossbred: Up to 361b, 8d per lb; 371b to 421b, 7 7-Sd; 431b to 501b, 7£d; over 501b (legs), 6fd. Seconds: Up to 361b, 7|d; over 361b; 7d. Mutton.—Wethers: Up to 481b, 5 l-8d; 491b to 561b, 4 5-8 d; 571b to 641b, 4 3-8 d; 651b to 721b, 4 l-8d; over 721b, 3|d. Seconds: Up to 561b, 4 3-8 d; over 561b, 4d. Ewes: Up to 641b, 3 l-8d; over 641b, 2 5-Bd. * .
The schedule -this season is on a different .basis, more divisions being provided. Opening rates for lambs last season were:—Up to 421b, B£d per lb; over 421b and1 seconds, 73d.
