The Petone Borough ; engineer, Mr-. C. L. Jackson, reported last, night that the tar-sealing work on the Esplanade was completed, and concrete paving slabs were ready for laying at- the memorial. The Cuba Street sheds had been demolished, and the ground levelled and metalled. A southerly wind damaged the grass plots, but the portions affected had been reso.wn and top-dressed.
