ARCHBISHOP O'SHEA
RETURN FROM AUSTRALIA
His Grace Archbishop O'Shea, Metropolitan of New Zealand, who has been attending the celebrations marking the centenary of the first Mass in Melbourne, and the completion of the first hundred^years" of Catholicism in Victoria, has returned to New Zealand The celebrations were held in conjunction with the ceremonial opening of St. Patrick's Cathedral .'and extended from Sunday, October 29, to Sunday November 5
Archbishop O'Shea was the preacher at Pontifical High Mass for the propagation of- the faith on October 31. In an interview with "The Post," Archbishop O'Shea said that his visit to-Australia'had been for one purpose only, tp attend the celebrations at St. Patrick's Cathedral. At the same time, he had not forgotten the New Zealand Centennial celebrations, and he was glad to say that New Zealarid was assured of a visit from a number-of Australian Catholic Bishops early next year The number coming had been affected by the war, but there would still be a good representation.
