WON BY PARKER

SEABRIGHT SINGLES FINAL (Received July 31, 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 30. In the final of the men's singles at the Seabright tennis tournament, F. Parker beat D. McNeill, 6-3, 8-6, 6-0. Parker played with almost mechanical precision and his new forehand functioned well. McNeill carried the fight to Parker in the first two sets, going to the net consistently, but Parker was too steady and passed him repeatedly with unerring shots down the sidelines. Parker's victory has boosted his chances of a place in the Davis Cup team. In the women's finals Miss H. Bernhard beat Miss D. Workman, 6-3, 7-5. A. K. Quist (Australia) practised for two sets against G. Mulloy, concentrating mainly on shots from the baseline and rarely going to the net. The Aus- | tralian may play in the doubles tournament at Southampton. In the men's singles semi-final_ yesterday, F. A. Parker beat Gilbert Hunt, 3-6, 6-4. 6-4, 1-6, 6-1; and McNeill beat B. M. Grant. 7-5, 6-2, 6-1. I In the semi-finals of the women's singles Miss Bernhard, an unseeded i New York player, beat Miss D. M. Bundy, 6-2, 6-2, and Miss D. Workman beat Miss P. Canning, 7-9, 6-4, 6-2. In the women's doubles final, Mrs. | S. Fabyan and Miss H. Jacobs beat Mesdames S. Henrotin (France) and D. B. Andrus (U.S.A.), 6-3, 6-3. j In the mixed doubles semi-final A.' K. Quist and Miss Marble beat D. B.j Riggs and Miss Betz, 4-6. 6-3, 6-3. The I courts were extremely wet. The wini ners started poorly, making many errors. They twice collided during the first set, but improved thereafter. They benefited by Riggs's insistence on attempting to play the whole court, leav- ; ing openings to which Quist frequently volleyed.
