POLICE INVESTIGATIONS

HASTINGS, This Day.

The visit of Dr. Lynch, of Wellington, Government Pathologist, to Hastings last week in connection with the police investigations into the death, of Miss Muries Ester Reichelt, whose body was found, in Avenue Road on the morning of . Thursday, July 20, was responsible for providing the police with several important aspects of the case. It is understood .that the examination of the contents of the body by the Government Analyst at Wellington and the subsequent examination, by Dr. Lynch have established the fact that death occurred quite early in the evening. Before Dr. Lynch arrived in Hastings arrangements were made in Wellington for the exhumation of the body in readiness for his examination, and this was carried out on Tuesday last. A second examination of the body was conducted by Dr. Lynch in collaboration with Dr. Cashmore, who had car- | ried out the original post-mortem! examination. Since . then the police' have pursued intensive inquiries along several different channels arid have interviewed a large number of people in endeavouring to trace Miss Reichelt's movements. "n»
