ACCIDENTS
FALL FROM BUILDING
Severe injuries were suffered by Mr. G. Davey, a steel worker, of 5 Kilmore Avenue, when he fell 30 feet to the ground from a girder on the State Fire building in Lambton Quay shortly after 10 o'clock this morning. Mr. Davey was working on "a girder on the inside of the building, when he lost his foothold. He received severe injuries to the back and ribs, and shock.
"When th i motor-cycles they were riding collided on the Onslow Road on Saturday afternoon, Mr. W. Louis-But-ler, a boot repairer, of 100 Oriental Parade, and Mr. W. A. Oliver, a factory hand, of 30 Douglas Street, were injured. The first-named suffered an injury to the right leg and shock, and the last-named a lacerated wound on the left hand, and abrasions to the left-leg. Knocked down by a taxi in HilL Street at 9.55 a.m. yesterday, Mr. S. McCarthy, a labourer, of Astor Terrace, suffered a fractured right leg and shock.
.. Joan Urry, of 118 Austin Street, suffered a lacerated wound to the scalp, and ■-.■. shock, when she was knocked down by a motor-car in Ellice Street at 7.45: p.m. yesterday. :
.Mr; J. 'Shaw, a baker, of Porirua Road, Johnsonville, severed a finger of his. left hand with an axe ; while chopping wood at.his home yesterday.
A fractured left leg was suffered by Mr. O. Smith, a clerk, of. Paekakariki, while playing football at Paekakariki yesterday. A fracture of the left leg was also received by Mr. L. Page, of 27 Wilton' Road, while playing football for the Diamond first A division team against Waterside at the | Basin Reserve on Saturday.
Norman Hobbs, a seaman employed by the Union Steam Ship Company, had his mouth severely cut, and suffered shock, through being struck by a winch block on the Wahine at 10.50 a.m. today.
All of the injured persons were taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance.
